Plano Percussion is proud to offer open enrollment into our Toolkit Sonnet Summer Drum Set Camp. Held at Plano Senior High School in the Doyle Dean Performing Arts Center from June 12 - 16, 2023, 8a-12p, the Toolkit Sonnet Drum Set Camp offers your percussion student a unique learning experience on a fantastically popular percussion instrument. The Toolkit Sonnet Drum Set Camp started in 2013 as a result of the growing popularity of Plano Percussion’s Toolkit Sonnet Drum Set Ensemble established in 2009.

The Toolkit Sonnet Drum Set Camp is centered around hands-on learning, developing discipline, building self-esteem, and fostering teamwork while offering our students a chance to develop their drum set skills regardless of ability level or aptitude. The camp features 3 tracks of learning - beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Our camp is open to all percussionists from an accredited DFW Metroplex band program who want to improve their drum set skills in an exciting and inspiring environment.

The camp sessions run Monday - Friday, 8a - 12p with all events held in the Doyle Dean Performing Arts Center at Plano Senior High School, 2200 Independence Pkwy, Plano, TX 75075.

Eligibility and participation is offered to next-year 7th through 12th grade percussionists from accredited DFW Metroplex middle and high schools as well as current year graduates, prior to their freshman year in college. Participants will benefit from our program regardless of level of attainment or proficiency.

Entry deadline is June 2, 2024.

Every activity is supervised and attended by a PISD employee and area percussion specialists on contract with the Plano Percussion Toolkit Sonnet Summer Drum Set Camp. All staff have been certified and cleared to teach by the State of Texas and the Plano Independent School District.

All participants will need to have their own drum sets during the camp as we will spend a majority of the time behind the kits. The standard “camp” drum set is a 4 or 5-piece kit with a ride cymbal, a crash cymbal, hi-hats, and a drum throne. Having fewer or more drums and cymbals is fine. You will also need sticks and drum set brushes. All drum sets will remain secured behind locked doors within the Plano Senior High School Performing Arts Center for the duration of the camp.

Tuition for the Toolkit Sonnet Summer Drum Set Camp is $125 with checks made out to: Plano Band Boosters. Tuition is due at camp registration on the morning of the first day of camp.
