Creative Tools Workshop Series

This is a collaborative workshop series led by interdisciplinary artist and educator Alanna Ho and Mimi Xia. Workshops will be led by one of us, and assisted by the other. By the end of the workshops, you will have twice  reviewed the safe use of the equipment and designing your own small project. No experiences necessary!!!

Alanna's workshops use play as a main momentum to test out new ideas; and collaborative Reggio-inspired activities as a way to build community. Mimi's workshops explore and subvert technology for creative purposes, and introduce participants to the practice of creative hacking.

In each workshop we introduce an inspiring female / nb artist using technology in their creative practice. The featured artists that we will look at will range from sound artists to mathematicians to fashion designers.

We’re seeking students, artists, creators - beginners and intermediate level curious minds alike. As our mission is to empower under-represented groups in tech; priority will be given to BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals but all applications will be considered! As seats are limited, we will carefully review all applications and you can expect to hear back from us soon. Join the fun!
