2021-2022 UofM BCM Lead Team Application
The Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) exists to connect college students to Jesus Christ and to His local church. The BCM is a student-led organization funded by the Cooperative Program of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, local churches, individual donors and Alumni. Although associated as a registered student organization with the University of Memphis, the BCM is a ministry that promotes and unashamedly shares the Gospel of Jesus with our campus, the city and the world. These lead teams function as a strategic structure that helps fulfill the purpose of making Jesus known to students. The structure this year is described briefly below:

FOCUS TEAM: This team works together to reach students by planning, organizing, setting up and conducting our weekly worship gathering on Thursday nights. Included in this team is the musical worship, audio and video elements, recruiting speakers, testimonies, announcements, greeting, and AfterFocus fellowships.

FLOW TEAM: This team plans, organizes, sets up and conducts the weekly outreach lunch called Free Lunch On Wednesday (FLOW) in which we partner with churches to provide food for college students while also signing in students, greeting, promoting other BCM activities, and helping and hosting the church with drinks and serving. Each week a speaker shares for 5 minutes about how the Gospel has impacted their lives.

CAMPUS CONNECTION TEAM: This team is responsible for organizing and setting up weekly table outreaches, surveys, and other ON-CAMPUS opportunities to mobilize BCM students in connecting with other students for the purpose of sharing the Gospel. The team also plans and conducts WELCOME WEEK EVENTS (Grub on the Grass, etc.), FRESHMAN SURTHRIVAL, and any other outreach oriented activities. Training and implementing the concept of Gospel Appointments is also under the responsibility of this team.

MISSIONS TEAM: This team is responsible for planning, recruiting and organizing Sole Trip (Spring Break mission trips, and other times). Also, this team promotes and raises funds for our TN Summer Missions program, sendtnmissions.org . Creative mission fundraisers, mission opportunity promotion, recruitment, and more are all part of the Missions Team.

FAMILY GROUP LEADERS: These leaders are responsible for co-leading gender-specific small groups throughout the week. Each Family Group will have 2 student leaders, and the group will connect with new and existing BCM students to study Scripture (likely through a Bible book or Biblical resource study, exact content TBD until later this summer) and apply it in practical ways. Family Groups will be one of the primary vehicles that the BCM uses to connect students to authentic, Christ-centered community.

ALL LEADERSHIP MEMBERS will be required to attend both Focus and a Family Group on a weekly basis. All exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis, but students should make every effort to be involved in both.
