Colleges Against Cancer E-board Application 2019-2020
This E-board Application is due by THURSDAY, APRIL 25TH @ MIDNIGHT!!!!  Write a detailed response (about a paragraph) about why you think you would be good for the position you are applying to. You can apply for more than one position and it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you do in case someone else gets the position. Also, write a short paragraph about why you want to be part of Colleges Against Cancer. After we have carefully reviewed your application, your name will be entered into a ballot. Completing this application does NOT guarantee that your name will be added to the ballot, so make sure you TAKE THE TIME to respond to the questions below. Good luck everyone!

Afterwards we will create a ballot for voting and announce our new E-board during our LAST General Body Meeting on May 2nd @ 5:00pm in Stevenson Hall Room 320.

I am running for ADVOCACY CHAIR and I believe I would be good for this position because...
The Advocacy Chair creates a planned monthly timeline of activities centered around that month’s cancer awareness program (such as Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October). They become aa American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (CAN) expert. They register with ACS CAN and coordinates with volunteers to write to legislators and stay up to date on the latest campaigns promoting cancer knowledge. They focus on the education side of cancer to bring legislators, politicians, and mayors to understand the goals of ACS CAN. This chair can also raise awareness about animals with cancer including an overview on the American Cancer Society’s Bark For Life event. This position is in charge of general committee members under this position and the planning of Relay For Life.
I am running for CANCER EDUCATION CHAIR and I believe I would be good for this position because...
The Cancer Education Chair is responsible for keeping the public informed about the latest cancer-related preventative facts and issues. The Cancer Education Chair also seeks guest speakers and survivors to present the organization with cancer education during General Body Meetings and Relay For Life. In charge of becoming an American Cancer Society mission expert and should present a “Mission Moment” (ACS mission highlight) at each General Body Meeting. The Cancer Education Chair also organizes special keynote events tied in with cancer awareness months with doctors, researchers, and oncologists to highlight a specific form of cancer. The Cancer Education Chair should educate donors and participants about where the fundraising money goes. In charge of general committee members under this position and the planning of Relay For Life.
I am running for COMMUNITY OUTREACH CHAIR and I believe I would be good for this position because...
The Community Outreach Chair is in charge of informing and connecting with the UIC Community (including West Campus) about the mission of CAC and Relay For Life. The Community Outreach Chair creates and implements strategies to promote CAC events/initiatives to UIC students such as going to other organization meetings to promote CAC and Relay For Life. They are also in charge of creating Facebook events for General Body Meetings and events and sharing them to other groups and pages. The Community Outreach Chair should reach out to other organizations and outside community members for event collaborations. They create the Relay For Life event program booklet that highlights bios of the executive board, and advertisements from generous corporate sponsors. In charge of general committee members under this position and the planning of Relay For Life.
I am running for RECRUITMENT CHAIR and I believe I would be good for this position because...
The Recruitment Chair is in charge of recruiting and registering people for Relay For Life. The Recruitment Chair should become a Relay For Life expert, and they should inform and connect with UIC clubs, organizations, residence life, and greek life about CAC and Relay For Life. The Recruitment Chair should present at other organization’s meetings to promote, recruit, and register individuals for Relay For Life. They are also in charge of creating PowerPoints, letters, and emails used during the recruitment process in August and January. In charge of general committee members under this position and the planning of Relay For Life.
I am running for SOCIAL MEDIA AND PRODUCTIONS CHAIR and I believe I would be good for this position because...
The Social Media and Productions Chair informs the UIC Community about CAC, Relay For Life, and the American Cancer Society by posting on all CAC social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram) at least once every two weeks. They take individual shots of E-board members and highlight one member each week on social media with a short description of the member. For big events, it is recommended that posts be made within one week of the event for relevancy. This chair also takes photos and videos during general body meetings and Relay, and help with creating promotional flyers and videos for CAC and Relay For Life. In charge of general committee members under this position and the planning of Relay For Life.
I am running for SPECIAL EVENTS CHAIR and I believe I would be good for this position because...
The Special Events Chair creates and coordinates events each month to help with fundraising and raising awareness such as bakesale events throughout the year. They organize all entertainment and activities for all events, especially Relay For Life including DJs and guest acts. They communicate with the other E-board members as necessary for the success of events and seeks approval from the  President and Vice President before any event is official. They also assist the President and Vice President with Relay planning -- specifically creating the Relay Day of Event Schedule.  They work with Team Recruitment and Team Development to facilitate onsite fundraisers at Relay and are in charge of general committee members under this position and the planning of Relay For Life.
I am running for SPONSORSHIP CHAIR and I believe I would be good for this position because...
The Sponsorship Chair maintains a healthy relationship with local businesses and corporate sponsors. They ask businesses for monetary and in-kind donations of goods and services (gift certificates, foods, beverages, discounts, etc.) for all events, especially Relay For Life and put together sponsorship packets by October 1st and begin distributing by October 31st. They coordinate food/item delivery and pickups from sponsors and donors and keeps an organized spreadsheet of businesses that have donated to events. Also they mail “Thank You” cards and “Stewardship Packets” to all sponsors and donors and are in charge of general committee members under this position and the planning of Relay For Life.
I am running for TEAM DEVELOPMENT CHAIR and I believe I would be good for this position because...
The Team Development Chair helps recruit teams and participants for Relay For Life. They mentor Teams/Team Captains and provide support for teams about how to fundraise and recruit team members. They facilitate constant and regular communication with Team Captains through emails. They create content and host Team/Team Captain meetings during the Spring Semester as well as create Team Captain packets with all information about CAC and Relay For Life. This chair also creates team game activities during Relay and the icebreakers and bonding events for CAC members throughout the year to foster teamwork. In addition, they are in charge of general committee members under this position and the planning of Relay For Life.
I am running for VOLUNTEER CHAIR and I believe I would be good for this position because...
The Volunteer Chair finds volunteer events throughout the school year for GBM members and keep track of their participation through a spreadsheet. They work closely to fill volunteer needs and roles for all events and creates Google Docs for volunteer sign-ups a minimum of one week prior to all events ensuring that at least two E-board members are at all events. They work with the Secretary to track the volunteer progress of all general members. They create volunteer role descriptions and responsibilities for Relay day including set-up and clean-up, and host a volunteer training session prior to Relay for CAC members and outside volunteers. They coordinate a team of volunteers to help set up, clean up, and work at Relay For Life. They keep in contact with other organizations to let them know when volunteer opportunities arise. They also follow up with organizations to thank them and to ensure funds are claimed after volunteering and are in charge of general committee members under this position as well as the planning of Relay For Life.
