Students need an extended period of time to reach high levels of proficiency in two languages. Even in well-implemented two-way immersion programs, many years of study are required for students to achieve high levels of proficiency in both languages. It is important that children remain enrolled in the Valle Dual Language course of study for as many years as programming is available. *

Linguistic balance is a necessary component of the dual language program design. Therefore, the Valle Dual Language program strives to ensure that roughly one-third of the students are Spanish language models, roughly one-third are English language models, and roughly one-third are simultaneous bilinguals models. *
