By entering this contest, you agree to the following rules:
1.
Each entry must sit or stand on its own props. No props will be provided. Stakes may be driven; however, ground must be left as before scarecrows arrived. Do not drive nails into trees. No electricity or batteries may be used. Rubber, plastic, and store-bought masks are not allowed.
2.
Each entry must be constructed to withstand weather conditions. Scarecrows must be firmly packed. If fresh vegetables or other perishable items are used, replace as necessary. Creators are responsible for keeping their scarecrow in good viewing and photographing condition from setup until award day. Any scarecrow deemed “ruined” by VIS must be removed in 24 hours.
3.
All scarecrows must be named. Scarecrows submitted by businesses may use or incorporate their logo or business name, but it cannot take up more than 20% of the overall design. When designing your scarecrow, please remember this is a family event. VIS reserves the right to not accept any scarecrow that is deemed to be inappropriate. No politically themed scarecrows will be accepted.
4.
Votes will be cast by the viewing public. Votes may be cast from Sunday, October 18, through Saturday, October 24 online at
thompsonvis.org/events.
5.
Winners need not be present at the announcement on Sunday, October 25 at 11am. Winners will be notified by email and ribbons will be attached to the scarecrows.
6.
Scarecrows must be broken down and removed by Sunday, November 1.
