Below is a brief description of the farms that have scheduled tours and workdays this month.
Washington Park Youth Farm (Windy City Harvest) - 555 E. 51st Street, Chicago
Washington Park Youth Farm is located on Chicago Park District property adjacent to Walter H. Dyett High School on 51st Street in Chicago. The farm currently has 73 raised beds, a 42-foot hoophouse, two beehives, a small fruit orchard, native and perennial plantings, and community space for youth programming.
Angelic Organics CSA Farm - 1547 Rockton Road, Caledonia (near Rockford)
This will be an all day event, as the farm is located about 75 minutes northwest of Schaumburg. Transportation to the farm  will be either on your own or coordinated for carpooling. This is a really excellent opportunity to get an up-close and personal look at the workings of a local, family-owned, community-supported farm fostering a vibrant local food economy.

Growing Home Farm Tour - 5814 S. Wood Street, Chicago
Growing Home has been using urban agriculture as a catalyst for change for over a decade in Englewood, an under-served community on Chicago’s south side. Growing Home uses a combination of outdoor growing space and unheated hoop houses to extend their growing season, enabling harvests from March through December. There is street parking out front on Wood St. and the 59 and Ashland buses stop nearby.
Reminders:

All activities on the farms are outdoors, so please make sure to dress appropriately - be prepared for the the elements and wear shoes/clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Close-toed shoes are required on all the farms. In the event of rain, there is generally little indoor space. It is also recommended that participants be at least 12 years old and those attending a workday, bring work gloves if they have some.
Which farm tour or workday are you planning to attend?
Please indicate the number of people you are signing up (if you plan to have additional friends or family join you, please indicate that here).
