Cheney Rapidplay, Monday 21st February 2022

Event full - now operating waiting list

Brighouse Building, Cheney School, Cheney Lane, Oxford OX3 7QH
Monday 21st February 2022  10.30am - 5.30pm
Entries welcome from both adults and juniors
Entry fee £25, entrants are strongly encouraged to be ECF silver members or above
Capacity: 48
Sections: will be divided into 8 player all-play-alls,  7 rounds

Entry discounts: 2nd entry from same family is £20, 3rd entry from same family £15, 4th entry from same family £10 etc.
Titled players: We acknowledge the achievement that goes into obtaining FIDE titles - all FIDE titled players receive free entry (arena titles do not count). For similar reasons, nominal honoraria apply for players with higher titles who play all games (£30 IM/WGM; £60 GM).

Entries will be split by playing strength into all-play-all sections of 8. Allocation to sections is at the absolute discretion of the organiser.

All sections will be ECF rated and as many sections as practical will be FIDE rated.

Younger juniors with less experience of tournament chess will be put into separate junior-only sections.

Prizes : Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each section (guaranteed; additional trophies plus cash prizes in top sections depending on entries). Small chocolate prizes for all U8 players (year 3 and below).
Time control: 20 min + 5 sec in all sections
Round times: 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm, 4.30pm (timetable may be accelerated for beginner sections)
Default time: When clock expires

Policy towards face coverings reflects the current school policy. This does not require face coverings and so neither does the event. Players are encouraged to take an LFT test prior to attending the event. The Brighouse building is a large building and there will be plenty of room for players for wait between rounds.

The overall capacity is 48 expandable to 64. Playing strength will be determined by a mixture of the July 2020 OTB ECF grading list, current ECF OTB ratings and current FIDE ratings. Players wishing to make a case that their OTB rating is significantly inaccurate may provide details of a current lichess rapid rating as evidence.

Outside the playing area, parents are responsible for their children at all times.

There is ample parking at the school and the Brighouse building also has ample space for waiting inbetween rounds. Coffee/biscuits will hopefully be available but attendees should bring their own lunch.

On completion of the registration form, you will receive a subsequent email (this may take a couple of days) with BACS transfer details.
