The graduating senior must be currently enrolled in, or have completed, the equivalent of a 4th year level modern language

The student must have a grade point average of at least 3.80 (non-weighted) in the modern language. (This allows for one 'B' in seven semesters of the language. This is the same for a student taking Pre-AP, AP, & IB classes, as well.) Proof of the 3.80 GPA will be verified.

Students must have completed at least one of the items below. Please check off all that apply: *

Taken or plan to take a national language test such as the AP test, IB language exam, Achievement Test (SAT II), National Modern Language Exam, CLEP exam, etc.

Participated in an exchange program (hosted or gone overseas).

Taken one or more years of an additional modern language.

Participated in other modern language experiences within the community (acceptable at the discretion of the department).

Tutored a modern language at CDO, either through Peer Tutoring or departmental auspices.

Letter submission in modern language

Students will submit a letter to the Modern Languages Department below. Criteria is as follows:

A. It must be typed into the space below.

B. Letters must be written in the language studied.

C. It must be at least one page in length. (copy and paste from Word document, double spaced)

D. It should include the following content:

1. Why student feels he/she deserves a Seal of Excellence.
2. How many years the student has studied modern language(s), where, reflection of progress.
3. All extra-curricular modern language experience.
4. How the student plans to use modern language in the future.
