2022 HEC Leadership Application
Health Equity Circle (HEC) is an interdisciplinary group of students, health professionals, and community members. Our mission is to educate, organize, and mobilize our members to address upstream causes of health, shifting power structures to promote health equity and thus improving quality of life for our communities. Through our partnership with Sound Alliance, a PNW based community organizing group, we can support our members with leadership training, networking, and diverse expertise.

Our leadership team is composed of the Core Leadership Team and Campaign Organizers.

The Core Leadership team is composed of the positions listed below. Each core member is expected to attend all Core meetings (monthly), share in note taking responsibilities and annual HEC summit coordination, and either take UCONJ624 (if offered) or complete Sound Alliance’s leadership Institute. Additionally, each Core Leadership Member is expected to serve as an organizer or liaison to at least one HEC campaign, reporting back about the campaign at Core meetings, inviting campaign leads to Core meetings when appropriate, and strategizing to advance their goals.

Term: 6 month minimum.
Time: 2-4 hours per week.

Membership and Communications Lead (2 positions)
Lead membership communication by maintaining up-to-date member contact list, and managing HEC email account. Lead recruitment of new members by representing HEC at service and volunteer fairs. Assist other Core leads and campaign organizers  with advertising of HEC events, campaigns, and core meetings.

Education Lead
Work with Sound Alliance’s strategy team to recruit and manage the Teaching Team, and facilitate curriculum development for our UCONJ 624 course (Must take UCONJ624 or Sound Alliance Leadership Training. Work with Membership Lead to recruit students to take the course and to identify and support students from the course to become HEC leaders. Duties include supervising weekly course needs (PowerPoints, speakers, agendas, attendance, grading, homework assignments, and assessment), organizing teaching team meetings, and ensuring all class dates have appropriate teaching coverage.

Operations Lead
Lead scheduling and equipment efforts for all monthly Core meetings, bi-annual General Assemblies, and tabling at Service fairs (in coordination with Membership Lead). Assist in event development and provide logistical support for campaigns as needed.

Fundraising and Finance Lead
Lead fundraising efforts, including institutional, grants, community, and student body, to generate enough income to pay Sound Alliance dues and operating expenses (~$2500 annually). Manage HEC bank account (BECU). Assist with grant applications for campaigns or HEC events as brought forth by other leads and meet with donors when necessary.

Community Engagement Lead
Lead development of new relationships with community allies by meeting with local leaders and attending monthly Sound Alliance meetings. Assist campaign organizers with community engagement as needed.

Campaign Organizers
Oversee individual campaigns within HEC and organize members around these campaigns to create meaningful action. These could be recurring campaigns that HEC hosts annually, or a new campaign of your choice. Regularly hold meetings with members on campaign as well as Core and provide updates on progress. Work with Core Membership, Communication, Operations, Community Engagement and Fundraising Leads as needed to run your campaign.
Term length is a 6 month minimum.
