God Seeks You

After watching The Chosen episode on the encounter Jesus has with the woman at the well, complete and submit the following.

Your Name *

What was Jesus doing in Samaria? Remember that Jews were not welcome there, and that Jews and Samaritans had nothing to do with each other. (Jesus was a Jew) Write your reflection on Jesus' sole purpose in coming to the well in Samaria that day. *

As Jesus sought out the Samaritan woman to bring her healing and new life, Jesus also seeks you! When have you been aware that Jesus showed up in your life when you were not expecting it? (Probably outside of church...) List as many times as you can recall. If you cannot think of a single time when Jesus reached out to you, write "none" for this question and the next, then complete the rest.) *

Choose one of the times you listed above, and respond to the following. Why do you think Jesus was trying to get your attention? What was going on in your life at the time? How did you respond to Jesus? *

If you can't recall any time that Jesus has reached out to you, perhaps this might help. Perhaps you heard him speak to you through the readings at Mass - one that especially spoke to your need at the time. Or maybe he spoke words of encouragement, love, or correction through someone close to you. Perhaps something in nature caught your eye and caused you to just be still and enjoy. Now respond as best as you can. *

What can we do to be open to God's presence in our lives, and to hear his voice in our hearts? Check off all of the following that you do, and be aware that God uses each of these to speak with us. *

Mass - listen to the readings (the Word of God!)

Listen to the homily and take to heart any movements of my heart as a result of listening

Spend time in nature, just learning to be still. See, touch, taste, smell the beautiful gifts of God's creation!

Be grateful for the many gifts God has given you. Make this a regular practice, and your heart will increase in the awareness of God's generosity and you will become truly grateful!

Read the Bible on your own. The Gospel of Mark is an easy place to begin! It is best to always pray before reading the Bible, and ask God to open up its meaning for you.

Listen to God's wisdom spoken through others

Learn the teaching of the Catholic Church

Participate in the Sacraments, especially receiving Jesus in Holy Communion

Go to Reconciliation regularly, and as often as needed. (at least twice a year??)
