Memorial University Botanical Garden offers educational programming to meet the needs of Newfoundland and Labrador curriculum goals

- Basic Program starts at 1.5h

- Offered between May and November
- Takes place mainly outdoors
- Suitable clothing and footwear is necessary

Basic Program Information

1.5hr Basic Program includes:

- Interpretive trail hike

- Guided tour of the gardens

Additional activities are available for half-day and full-day bookings

Program Options

Basic Program | Cost: $5.00 per student | 1.5-hour duration
Content varies by grade curriculum.

Half-Day Program | Cost: $8.00 per student | 3 hour duration
Basic program and 1 hour of additional activities + 30mins for students to eat their snacks.

Full-Day Program* | Cost: $10.00 per student | 5 hour duration
Basic program and 2 hours of additional activities +15mins for students to eat their snacks, 45mins for lunch.

Program Selection *

There are no taxes or charges for leaders and helpers. Payment can be made on the day of the visit/outreach, or we can invoice the school.

Please keep in mind program length, but we are flexible with what works for you.

Composting (30 mins) What goes in, see a Vermicompost & play a game

Seed Planting (30 mins) Make and take a newspaper flower pot

Nursery Tour (30 mins or 1hr) See behind the scenes at the Botanical Garden

Themed Story Time (30 mins) Great for K-3, some fun puppets might join us

Plant Pressing (1hr) See our 40 year old samples, collect and press your own

Longer hike to the Lookout (1 hour) Get a great view of our property using our binoculars
