Recommendations for the School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) to foster more inclusion, justice, and equity in our profession
Thank you so much for calling SENR home! We know these are challenging times, in large part because we have too often failed our communities of color and other groups that have been marginalized in our society. To be clear, we condemn racism, bigotry, xenophobia, etc., in all its forms, and we further commit to making the changes we wish to see in the world. This form is aimed at collecting input from our community on suggestions of what we can do better going forward. Please know this will be an ongoing conversation, as the road ahead of us to a fully just society will take time. That said, we are unwilling to give up because we truly believe that each and every one of you have untold potential.

What are some short-term and/or long-term actions that we can take to promote diversity, inclusion, justice, and equity within the School, and our professions more widely? We are specifically thinking of ways to support people of color and/or groups that are marginalized, yet welcome any input you are willing to provide.
What examples of specific policies or actions by other organizations or institutions can you share with us that might serve as models for the School in regards to improving our efforts to reach and support diverse and often marginalized groups of people?
What other resources would you like to share with us to support the School's efforts in directly addressing racism, bigotry, violence, microaggressions, etc.?
What else should we know? Please share. We welcome your words, your voice - or the words/voices of others who you feel capture an important part of what you wish to share with us. These can be stories, podcasts, writing, songs, readings, etc.
If you wish to help us further expand our work in the areas of diversity, inclusion, justice, and equity, please enter your name and email here.
