25th Anniversary Inferno Reboot Brainstorming
We're working on a reboot of the Inferno for 2025.  Our intentions for the reboot include:
  1. To reformat the race to closer align with the historic American Inferno and Original Muerren Inferno---both top to bottom extended ski races
  2. Retain the fun relay based multi sport adventure that has come to define the Tuckerman Inferno
  3. Retain a level of challenge worthy of the events legacy
  4. Grow excitement and participation by both solos and teams.
The rough concept that we are exploring is:
  1.  A hike/skin/mtn-run stage up Mount Washington going up as high as weather and avalanche conditions allow.
  2. A ski descent stage from as high as conditions allow to Pinkham Notch
  3. A backcountry ski trail stage from Pinkham to Jackson
  4. A front country XC ski course through Jackson
  5. A backroads running leg from Jackson to the finish at Ledge Brewing
Under this concept the idea is to not dictate equipment choice for each leg other than what is required by the venue and allow equipment swaps at the start if each stage.

This is very much a work in progress and we are open to all great ideas during this brainstorming phase.
