Help them gain the skills, experience, and connections needed to make an impact on public health outcomes locally through our 10-month AmeriCorps program, the Coro Commonwealth Civilian Coronavirus Corps.
Program Components:
*Serve at a local organization to meet community needs due to the pandemic. Nonprofits with open positions include: A+ Schools, The Forbes Funds, Latino Community Center, Women’s Shelter and Center, YWCA, and others!
Public Health Professional Development Training:
*Weekly training sessions, delivered by active community leaders and subject matter experts.
Team Service:
*Work with a team to learn about, develop, and implement COVID public health campaigns.
Professional Development Coaching:
*Each Member works with a staff member to identify post-program education and/or employment goals. Members and coaches meet regularly to determine appropriate strategies and track progress.
Qualifications:
*Applicants must be at least 17 years old;
*High school diploma or G.E.D. by program start;
*Must be a US Citizen or eligible to work in the US; and
*Passionate about community service, public health, and social change.
The Coro Commonwealth Civilian Coronavirus Corps is a 10-month AmeriCorps program, operated in a partnership between Coro Pittsburgh & PennServe. Members receive a $1,500/ month stipend throughout their term. At the end of a Member's completed service, they received an education award of over $6,000. Other benefits include health insurance, child care subsidies, and student loan deferral. In-person and remote positions available.
