Salk's Activity Kits | Reservation Request
Thank you for wanting to add a hands-on biotechnology lab to your students' learning experience. Any educator located in San Diego County who has attended our free activity kit training is able to complete the form to submit a reservation request for one or a combination of our activity kits, AKA, 'labs-in-a-box.' 

Activity Kit Options:
  • Kit 1 – DNA Extraction
    Uses wheat germ for a simple but powerful “first look” at actual DNA

  • Kit 2 – Gel Electrophoresis
    Demonstrates the principals of DNA fingerprinting using food coloring. Equipment can also be used with actual DNA using materials from MiniOne, miniPCR, Carolina Biological Supply, etc
  • Kit 3 – PCR
    Comes with 10 gel boxes, 5 thermal cyclers, micropipepettes & more. Does not come with DNA reagents. This kit can be used with actual DNA reagents from miniPCR, MiniOne, Bio-Rad, Carolina Biological & more. Equipment can also be used to explore learning through the Genes in Space program

Kits contain nearly everything you need to conduct the lab with up to 200 students. Each kit includes access to matching curriculum materials including Google Slides for presentations, student worksheets, & web-based activity ideas etc. as electronic files so you can modify as needed for your classes.

Reservations can last up to 3 weeks in order to give educators plenty of time to prep, conduct labs, clean equipment, & return the kit(s).
