We have been working hard to best support you and we are grateful for your support. We appreciate how challenging recent times have been for our families and how much our children have missed being at school. Knowing our families well and responding to feedback has been an important aspect of our work with you.
Over the past few weeks, we have been working closely with the Education Bureau (EDB) to establish how we might respond to increasing needs across our community for family and parental support.

I am pleased to inform you that we are now able to offer optional child care support for families and students in need. Such optional care will be available for up to ⅙ of our school capacity on any one day (34 children/session), and will be undertaken in strict compliance with all social distancing measures and safety protocols.

For clarity, our optional child care offer is not to provide learning on campus and is not a resumption of classes at our school. The provision is in direct response to the needs of many children and families for extra support, not limited to lack of carer, and within the established guidance from EDB.

Core learning at ESF Hillside will continue to be delivered through our online platforms, with your child’s teacher leading this learning engagement. Our optional child care will be led by our EAs, and this might include opportunities for play, social interactions and familiarisation with school-based routines.

We are currently working on our detailed plans and we hope to start offering our optional child care service from the middle of next week. To assist us with our planning, we ask that families complete this very short survey below on or before 5pm this Sunday, 31 January 2021. If you are unable to meet this deadline, please don't worry, you can reach out to us as soon as possible and note your interest in the child care provision. Please note that the service is an “opt-in” service only.

Once we have the survey data and finalised our approaches to service provision, further communications will be issued via the ESF App.
