We aim to gather information on income standards in the field of lutherie to examine how location, type of training, length of experience, gender, race, and family situation affect earnings.

In an effort to account for the economic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will collect three years of income data for 2019-2021.

A preliminary analysis of the first 116 responses was presented at the October 2021 Women In Lutherie Conference (https://youtu.be/0bEBwiBuz9I). A full analysis (including responses collected up to Dec 2022) will be conducted and released widely in early 2023. We plan to build on this study to create a comprehensive global database in the future.
