About the Junior League of Greensboro:
The Junior League of Greensboro is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Founded in 1926, the current membership of the Junior League of Greensboro is comprised of approximately 700 Active and Sustaining members. The Junior League of Greensboro reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and a commitment to voluntarism.

What is a Provisional Member?
Provisional members are those who are engaged in training and are fulfilling requirements established by this League to prepare them for effective community and League involvement. They are not eligible to vote or hold office. The goal of the Junior League of Greensboro’s Provisional Course is to empower a woman to be an effective volunteer by:

Demonstrating the importance of the Junior League of Greensboro’s collective, historical and dynamic community impact achieved through voluntarism;

Fostering an understanding of the critical issues facing the community, and the communication networks with the League and the community which exist to address these issues;

Offering opportunities for self-directed volunteer leadership through hands-on experiences in small groups and/or mentoring situations; and

Promoting development of potential untapped skills for her future League career.

Who is Eligible to be a Provisional Member?
A prospective member must have an interest in voluntarism, a commitment to community service and an interest in developing her potential for voluntary community participation.

Prospective members must have reached their 21st birthday by January 1st of the year in which she applies for membership.

The resident prospective member must be residing in Greensboro or the surrounding area at the time of her application for membership.

A prospective member who is in college at the time of application shall be considered a resident if her parents or guardians are residing in the area.

A non-resident prospective member may apply. She must have resided in the area for two (2) consecutive years and not have lived away from the area for more than five (5) years at the time of her application, or resided in the area for a total of ten (10) years and not have lived away from the area for more than five (5) years at the time of her application.
