Criteria for English Language Arts

Students seeking the Seal of Excellence in English must earn 4 points. Points are indicated in parentheses. These points can be earned in the following ways:

You must meet one of the following unweighted GPA Requirements. Please select from either SCENARIO A and SCENARIO B below as they apply to you.

SCENARIO A (1) *

1 point

A 3.75 to 3.99 overall for any combination of seven semesters of required English courses

A 3.5 or better for 6 consecutive semesters of Pre-AP/AP English courses

SCENARIO B (2) - Student cannot have taken any English course using pass/fail option, including the spring semester of senior year. *

2 points

A 4.0 for any combination of seven semesters of English (8th semester cannot be counted)
