Committee/Event Descriptions

Fundraising Event
5K Run/2 Mile Walk
This a fun opportunity to help organize the spring 5K fundraiser. There are many ways to learn and get involved. We'll explore how to design our own, certified 5K Course. We'll solicit businesses to ask them to make donations to our event. We'll explore different ways to promote our event in the community, invite partners and vendors to join us on the day of the event, invite other nearby schools to join us, and brainstorm ideas for how to include all students and help them train for this event. This is a great opportunity to learn about managing a project with lots of moving parts, meeting deadlines, and working together as a team.  The event is scheduled for April 30, 2022, at 9:00 am with start and post-race festival at Kenmore MS.

Outdoor Classroom
This is a great committee for you if you like being outside and enjoy gardening or want to learn more about it. We will host garden days during the school year and will look into planting a vegetable garden on Kenmore's property. This is a great chance to learn and develop practical skills you'll be able to use long after you leave Kenmore. It's also a great way to get to know other students who also share a love of nature.

Community Engagement
This committee oversees the other PTA committees to provide support and ensure their success in creating community engagement events and activities.  Students volunteering on this committee will have the opportunity to develop and enhance their communication and leadership skills to help their fellow classmates when support is needed in meeting their committee goals.  Students will also partake in school and community-wide activities to promote an inclusive school environment to ensure that all students, staff, and families feel welcome, connected, and engaged.  The committee is planning Kenmore's Inaugural An Event to Remember this spring.  We will be planning and coordinating a fun outdoor experience for families and friends to join together in celebration of the Kenmore community. We'll also solicit raffle items to sell for during the gathering. This event is a great opportunity to socialize with your classmates while learning about event management, marketing, and honing your leadership skills.

Hospitality
This committee is in charge of organizing fun and creative ways to show appreciation to Kenmore teachers, staff and parents throughout the school year including during teacher appreciation week and the science fair.  This is a great opportunity to develop your social and organizational skills by soliciting community organizations for donations, interacting with your teachers, staff, and classmates, and work together as a team to show your school spirit.

8th Grade Promotion & Party
This committee is in charge of creating and setting up the 8th grade promotion festivities at the end of the school year.  Students will engage in planning, promoting, decorating, and working with teachers, staff, and members of the Wednesday Hispanic Parent Committee to develop a fun and memorable 8th grade experience.
