This series of talks aims to discuss the concept of “Amefricanity” coined by Lélia Gonzalez, an important Black feminist author from Brazil. Her work developed key concepts that helped to establish an Afro Latin-American feminism. We want to raise awareness on the importance of bringing together the community of Black Latinx women, men, and gender expansive people at UAlbany through Gonzalez’ pedagogy.
