Passover Divinities: The God of Love, Freedom and The Stranger

Although Judaism is known for the belief in one God (or the oneness of God), when we comb biblical and rabbinic sources, we find varied aspects of God. In the context of Passover, in particular, clear aspects of God emerge, among them: the God of freedom (or freedom to be in covenant), about which the story of the Exodus recounts; the God of love, as expressed in Song of Songs and other texts; and the God of the Other, as described throughout the Hebrew Bible, particularly in connection to the memory of the Israelite experience in Egypt. Join My Jewish Learning and Abby Eisenberg for a 3 part series exploring these three aspects of God.
