SWE-LA 2021 Scholarship Application

Each year the Los Angeles Section of the Society of Women Engineers administers scholarships which are funded by donations from industry and individuals to support SWE collegiate members in their study of engineering and to help alleviate any financial burdens. There are a variety of scholarships awarded based on academics, volunteer activities, leadership, research projects, etc.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be currently enrolled as a full-time sophomore, junior, senior in an engineering curriculum leading to a Bachelor's degree at one of the following SWE-LA affiliated schools: Harvey Mudd, Loyola Marymount, USC, UCLA, Cal Poly Pomona, Caltech, Cal State LA, Cal State Northridge
- Must be a returning student in Fall 2021 (graduating seniors will be required to provide evidence of graduate school admission for Fall 2021)
- Must be a SWE member

Complete application includes
- Google Form Application
- Recommendation Letters (minimum of 1, 2 preferably)
- Transcript(s) (unofficial transcript is acceptable - must show grades for the entire enrollment from current and past colleges/universities)
- Resume/CV

Many of the companies that donate money to the SWE-LA Scholarship Program are interested in hiring for summer internships and full-time positions. Please note that your resume may be forwarded to one of these companies for potential employment opportunities in the Los Angeles area.

Available Scholarships
Please make sure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying for a particular scholarship:

1) SWE Endowment scholarship - must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
2) SWE Endowed scholarship for CSUN - must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be a student at CSU Northridge
3) SWE-LA scholarship - must have a minimum of 3.2 GPA, open to students who identify as female only
4) SWE-LA volunteer scholarship - must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA, must have demonstrated strong community service and/or outreach

* copies of recommendation letters submitted for other applications are acceptable as long as they are up to date and reflect the student's current academic achievements and professional development.

Reference criteria (either one or both of these criteria should be fulfilled):

Reference #1 - Letter of reference from an engineering professor, a faculty advisor detailing the applicant's academic performance.

Reference #2 -  Letter of reference from another professor, an employer (need not be engineering related), or someone closely associated with any extracurricular activities (such as a professional SWE member, coach or a faculty sponsor).
