'스파게티 스타일'은 현상 탱크에 필름을 쏟아붓고, 스파게티 면을 휘젓듯 현상하는 방식을 일컫는다. 혹자는 이를 규격화된 공정에서 벗어난 싸구려 방식이라 홀대한다. 하지만 제도권에서 벗어난 누군가에게는, 결여와 결핍에서 창발하는 우연한 아름다움을 믿는 그들에게는 소중한 대안적 방식이다. 탱크 안, 캄캄한 내부에서 필름들은 서로 겹치고 스쳐 지나며 각자에게 각자의 흔적을 남긴다. 뚜껑이 열리고, 문이 열린 뒤, 램프에 빛이 들어온다. 수 개월간 축적되고 풍화된 시간의 자국을 육안으로 확인할 시간이다. 누군가는 빛을 받고 누군가는 스스로 빛을 밝힌다. 구불구불 하더라도 궤도를 스스로 개척하는 그들의 별은 그런대로 아름다울 것이다.
The term 'spaghetti style' refers to pouring and agitating film in a developing tank, much like stirring spaghetti. Some view this as a cheap, non-standard approach that deviates from regulated processes. However, for those who venture outside institutional norms and believe in the accidental beauty that emerges from deficiencies and lacks, it represents a precious alternative method. Inside the darkness, films overlap, brush each other, and leave their traces. When the lid of the tank and the door open, the light enters the darkroom. And it's time to visually confirm the accumulated and weathered marks of the past months.

인천 굴포천에서 촬영됐다. 서로 다른 세 도시에 있는 세 하천의 인상을 담았다. 작업에서 세 개의 하천은 각각 필름메이커 자신의 신체 이미지와 교차하고 중첩된다.
Study for Three Streams was shot at Hongjecheon in Seoul, Mokgamcheon in Gwangmyeong, and Gulpocheon in Incheon. It captures the impressions of three streams in three different cities. Each of the three streams intersects and overlaps with images of the filmmaker’s own body.

작가는 흘러가는 시간의 목전을 돌아보며, 그것을 붙잡기 위해 카메라를 들었다. 차곡차곡 집적한 시간의 조각들을 보며 다시 한번 흘러간 시간을 되돌아보았다. 필름위에 남은 시간의 흔적들에 빛이 통과하여 움직이기 시작하며, 일부는 회상으로 남고 일부는 꿈이 되었다. 시간이 많이 지나지 않았음에도, 회상하고자 하였던 것 중 일부는 꿈이 되었고, 꿈만 같았던 일 중 일부는 또렷하게 기억에 남았다. 고태영은 무엇을 회상하였고, 무슨 꿈을 꾸었는가? 정확하게 구분이 되지 않지만, 지난 시간을 끌어안으며 〈고태영의 꿈과 회상〉이라는 작업을 일단락하고자 한다.
The artist looks back at the passing of time and raises his camera to capture it. He looked back at the fragments of time that he had accumulated, and once again looked back at the time that had passed. The traces of time left on the film begin to move as light passes through them, some as memories, some as dreams. Even though not much time had passed, some of the things he wanted to recall became dreams, and some of the things that seemed like dreams remained clear in his mind. What did Goh recall and what did he dream of? It is not clear, but he embraces the past time and tries to finish the work of Dreams and Retropection of Go Taeyoung.

16mm 필름에 35mm 흑백필름으로 촬영한 사진들을 프린팅하여 사진에 시간을 더했다. 사실 사진은, 한 시간을 꽁꽁 얼려 그 순간이 영원하게 만드는 것인데. 그렇게 오래 바라보기로 결정한 장면들을 16mm에 흘려보내며 말하고 싶은 건, 사실 이 섬에 주인공은 그 누구도 아니라는 것. 이 섬에 나고 자란 사람이나, 여기서 죽은 사람, 사람을 죽인 사람, 나무를 베어버린 사람, 베어진 나무들 모두 그 무엇도 아니고 흘러갈 것이라는 것. 흘러가는 시간 속 사람들과 자연이 남긴 장면을 나열하며 이 섬에서 발생된 소설같은 이야기들을 떠올려본다.
Fotofiction is a film that adds time to the photos by printing them on 16mm using photos taken on 35mm black and white film around the hometown since 2011. It is about novel-like stories that occurred on this island, listing scenes left behind by people and nature as time passes.
