Rochester Area Junior Roller Derby is excited to host two 4 week long summer boot camps for skaters of any gender that are new (or newer) to roller derby aged 8-16!

A minimum of 10 skaters is required for each camp to run, up to a maximum of 20 skaters can be enrolled in camp.

The $100 cost includes the loan of skates, helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and wristguards to be kept on site, as well as a new mouthguard for skaters to keep.

Each 3 hour session will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6PM-9PM. Sessions to be held at Roc City Roller Derby’s House of Bruise (“the HOB”) 121 Lincoln Ave, Rochester NY 14611  Please wait for confirmation that you are registered and paid prior to attending. The dates for session 1 are July 5. 12, 19, and 26.  The dates for session 2 are August 2 & 9, 16, and 23.

Additionally, fully registered and paid participants will be invited to an individual registration and gear fitting on a Wednesday or Saturday in June (for session 1) or July (for session 2).  We will help skaters try on gear, mold mouth guards, and ensure paperwork is completed.  Exact timing will be communicated once payments and registrations are confirmed.

If you'd like to sign more than one skater up for Summer Boot Camp 2023, please fill this form out again (Use caution and please DO NOT edit your responses if adding additional skaters).
The league accepts multiple payment methods, PayPal, Square, Venmo, Cash (please get a receipt), or Check (Made out to Rochester Area Junior Roller Derby, Inc).  Payments are due no later than June 21.

Each session will include an off skates warm up, an on skates warm up, lessons intended to help each skater attain the minimum skills, lessons about the rules of the game, drills and games to put the rules and the skills to work together, skate maintenance, and a brief scrimmage based around the skill level of the group that week.

Skaters will be expected to arrive on time (unless other arrangements are made with the league in advance) prepared with their mouthguard, a full water bottle, and clothing appropriate for practicing roller derby.  Skaters should wear either a mostly white or mostly black shirt to each session, and plan to bring the opposite color.
