Rampfest 2019 Workshop Registration
 Rampfest 2019 is just about here! We are excited to have a variety of spring educational workshops available, and look forward to getting to share this wonderful time of year with you.  Below is a list of the workshops being offered, please select up to one per time slot.

In addition to the workshops we will have a "ramptastic" lunch served at 12:15 and dinner served at 5:00 as well as beer and refreshments all day.  Come for one workshop, five workshops or just for a ramp grilled cheese sandwich and a beer! We' will have outdoor games, a children's corner, and self guided tours all afternoon.  

Please Note: We want to make this event accessible to as many people as possible so we do not have a set price to attend.  However we are asking for donations to cover instructor fees and set-up costs.  Donations can be made via cash, card or check at the event.  Suggested Donations are $10 per workshop.

10:00am-11:00am Workshop Options
Bird Biology and Conservation: A workshop led by local ecologist Melinda Knutson.  First thing in the morning Melinda will take a group our a tour of the farm identifying local birds and their habitats, and what we can do to help them thrive.                      ..................................................................................................................................................................... Sustainable Ramp Harvest: A trip into the forest with local forager Bjorn Bergman to learn how to sustainably forage and harvest wild ramps.  Participants will take home a portion of their harvest.
11:00am- 12:00pm Workshop Options
Lifecycle of a Tree: A workshop presented by Forester Randy Mell.  It covers trees needs and benefits to all of us, how to determine its age and health, and a provide for a better understanding of the strategies trees use to regenerate and stay healthy while competing with each other. .....................................................................................................................................................................  Maple Syrup Production: Farmer Bree ( Co-founder of B&E's Trees) will be taking tours through the woods and into the sugar house to explain the art of maple syrup making, as well as the changes in practices over time.
1:00-2:00pm or 1:00-3:00pm Workshop Options
 Mushroom Foray:  A 2 hour block lead by UW- La Crosse mycology club member Sabrina Aspenson.  This workshop will be a guided or a walk through the forest to learn all about the local mushroom culture. Note, this is a 2 hour block, not two separate courses. ..................................................................................................................................................................... Landscaping for good! A workshop focused on landscaping with a water conservation focus.  Learn about polyculture, what to plant, and watering practices that help preserve water and land. ..................................................................................................................................................................... Elderberry Propagation and Uses: Learn about elderberry uses and propagation techniques from one of the Driftless region's preeminent elderberry farmers. Attendees will leave with their own plant to start at home.
2:00-3:00pm Workshop Options

3:00-4:00 pm Workshop Options
Forest Ecosystem Hike: Forester Andrew Meier will cover tree and shrub identification and an understanding the landscape through knowing the forest. He will also cover aspects of wildlife habitats and indicators of healthy forest ecosystems. ..................................................................................................................................................................... Cooking with Ramps: A workshop presented to local foodie Jeanette Burlingame, and will include several recipes, preparation and preservation methods for wild ramps.  Participants in this workshop will take home a jar of preserved ramps.  
4:00-5:00 pm Bonus Workshop!
