You're invited to be a Special Events Content Provider at the first Virtual Norwescon!
Thank you for your patience as we worked out our plan for a safe convention. Norwescon 43: The Longest Night will be held online April 1-4, 2021!

We will be offering our attendees the things they love about Norwescon—interactive panel discussions, hands-on workshops, scheduled games, special events including exciting performances and contests, meetups, a curated art show, a dealers area with the latest and greatest in fandom wares, club tables, the Norwescon Writers Workshop, the Philip K. Dick Awards, and more! We are also planning virtual events and providing social spaces where everyone can gather, hang out, meet up with old friends, and make new ones while celebrating science fiction and fantasy together... as together as we can be during these unprecedented times.

If you haven’t heard, our Guest of Honor lineup remains the same. We are excited to welcome Writer GoH Jacqueline Carey, Artist GoH Sana Takeda, Science GoH Susan Langley, and Spotlight Publisher Tor Books represented by Claire Eddy.

Moving the con online allows us to reduce our budget and we are happy to pass that savings along to our members. Norwescon 43 membership fees will be $35 for adults and $20 for youth ages 13-17. As a Content Provider you will receive a complimentary membership to the convention.

Please fill out this form ASAP to let us know if you can join us in April!

How the Move to Online Affects You as a Special Events Content Provider
By the time Norwescon rolls around in April, the members of our planning committee will have been attending and volunteering at other online conventions for nearly one year. We're applying all of what we've learned to our planning process so that all participants have a positive experience!

FORMAT (ONLINE SPACE) - We are going to be utilizing the Airmeet, Zoom, and Discord platforms to deliver content and continue using Guidebook as our scheduler. You will need access to a computer, tablet or smartphone with video and a microphone to participate as a Content Provider. Most performances will be held in Zoom. Discord will be used mainly for games and social spaces.

PRE-CON TRAINING SESSIONS -- You will have the opportunity to "learn how to Zoom and Discord" in one of the many training sessions that will be offered by our tech staff prior to the con.

MODERATORS -- Moderator roles have not changed and they will not be required to run panels in a "tech" capacity. We'll have programming staff serving as Room Hosts who will be facilitating each performance, class, workshop, reading, etc. from beginning to end.

MEMBERSHIP - As an Special Events Content Provider, you will receive a complimentary membership to the convention. In exchange, we ask for that you commit to either 3-4 hours of performances, panels and presentations, or 8 hours of games across the four days of the convention - or more if you like!

MORE ABOUT PANEL HOURS -- The online environment limits our capacity a bit. This has less to do with financial considerations and more to do with the number of volunteers we have for whom room hosting is a good fit. Your availability + the number of Pros and Special Events Content Providers who attend + the number of volunteer Room Hosts we recruit will determine how much programming we are able to schedule. We'll be figuring it out as we go, however you can be sure we'll have it all nailed down well in advance!
RSVP ASAP and we'll be off and running!
The process is a little different this year. Here's what to expect during the upcoming weeks:

1. We have already sent out the first round of content provider invitations.

2. If you are able to join us and interested in helping provide games content, RSVP *YES* below ASAP.

3. After you RSVP,  if we have space, we will email you a link to your participant survey where you can update the dates and times you are available during the con, as well as your preferences, bio, photo, etc.

4. We will create a schedule and send it to you well in advance of the convention.
