Please complete this form to submit a proposal for the Summer 2021 Community Fellows program.

Now in its 23rd year, the Community Fellows program is a unique partnership between Vassar College and local non-profit and governmental agencies. Community organizations are invited to submit project proposals that address pressing issues relevant to their organizations. Students are funded by the college to work on these projects for nine weeks over the summer. This is a highly competitive program and presents an exciting educational opportunity for students.

The Community Fellows Program upholds the college’s mission by engaging students and community partners in the following ways:
- Supporting capacity building with community partners by responding to community needs
- Providing students with an opportunity to experience meaningful work in non-profit and governmental sectors
- Investing in the future of our community through public scholarship and engagement
- Enhancing the relevance of a liberal arts education to a purposeful life

Our anticipated dates for the program this summer are: June 7, 2021 -- Aug. 6, 2021.


Although we hope that students will be able to participate “in person,” we request that you consider whether students will be able to work virtually.

Please submit proposals by FEBRUARY 1, 2021. We will choose proposals based on their alignment with the mission of the program and invite students to apply. The Office of Community-Engaged Learning will  interview all interested students and forward a shortlist of 3 candidates to you for your consideration. We anticipate interviewing students in the middle of March and hope that you will be able to interview students in late March/ early April. We hope to make final decisions by early April.
