The Mathematics and Science Education Center (MSEC) invites nominations for one educator in each school in our region to serve as a connection in a regional STEM network. Selected educators will share information in their schools related to opportunities and resources related to STEM, will have access to a variety of STEM-related leadership tools, and will be a part of a vibrant community of faculty, teachers, and community members focused on increased participation in and effective integration of STEM. Nominees should be teachers of STEM content (to include mathematics, the sciences, computer science, and career-technical education) or otherwise engaged with STEM leadership in their schools. Ideal STEM Ambassadors will also demonstrate proficiency in communication through email and/or social media.
STEM Ambassadors will receive renewal credits for their participation and will receive prioritized access to STEM Leadership resources and professional development through the Mathematics and Science Education Center. They will also receive a welcome package with information about the network and some logoed items, such as a t-shirt and poster for their classroom/office wall.
The STEM Ambassadors network will collaborate to increase student participation in STEM outreach and to produce resources related to career and college options in related fields. STEM Ambassadors serve a term of 2 years with an option for renewal. In phase one of building the STEM Ambassador network, we will be naming one ambassador in each high school in districts/partners included in the Appalachian Public School Partnership. This includes the following partners: Academy at Middle Fork, Alexander County, Alleghany County, Ashe County, Avery County, Burke County, Caldwell County, Elkin City Schools, Newton-Conover City Schools, Watauga County, Wilkes County, and the NC School for the Deaf.
Please submit nominations by May 31.
