ICMSV Board Expression of Interest Form

Interested in joining the Board of Directors of the Indian Classical Music Society of Vancouver? We are looking for dedicated, passionate, and innovative folks to help us further our initiatives and goals. This document will tell you all you need to know about our available positions, commitment, and other relevant details.

If you decide to run for the Board of Directors, you are required to:
a) be present at the Annual General Meeting on December 9 at 11.00am
b) or send in a letter of your intent to run, so that it may be read out at the Annual General Meeting

Directors at Large are volunteers and members of the Board of Directors which oversees and supports the entire operation of the organization. Directors at Large are responsible for overseeing volunteer working groups, furthering the vision of the Board, and actively participating in the expansion and sustainment of the society.

Term Length: 3 years
Time Commitment (weekly):
General: 2-4hrs
Around time of events: 4-6hrs (virtual), 6-10hrs (live)

What you’ll do:

  • Participate in the development of the society’s mission

  • Creation of strategic plans

  • Vote on decisions pertinent to the organization

  • Maintain effective partnerships and communication with the community, the Society’s members, and its stakeholders

  • Communicate and report back to the President

  • Attend all meetings and functions, and be prepared to participate

  • Stay informed about board and committee matters; review and comment on minutes and reports

  • Participate in organizational fundraising

  • Promote the Society’s programs and initiatives

  • Lead and assist on volunteer working teams managed by the Board of Directors

What you’ll bring:

  • Long-term commitment to ICMSV, our vision, and our initiatives

  • Experience serving in a leadership position

  • Ability to work in a team and carry out assigned tasks

  • Creative insight into how to expand our organization

  • Ability to meet deadlines and be organized
