Conductor: A Game of Authenticity & Art, Power & Play. Conductor is played in a group of 5-20. The group begins by assembling into a semi-circular clump, and one person steps out in front of the group thereby electing to be the conductor. Once a person takes on the role of the conductor they conduct the group to do anything really. The actions of choice are primarily sonic, musical, performative and relational. The conductor can conduct by giving commands verbally, or they can use gesture and sound to elicit changes in the group. Conducting usually lasts around 3-5 minutes, and then another conductor takes their place.
We will begin with brief checkins, agreements and warmups, and then we’ll dive into playing the game. The game itself is incredibly fun, powerful, expressive, hilarious, dynamic and creative. However, the main intention will be to workshop the game, to craft it, to get better at it, to develop the mysterious artistry contained within it, and unlock this game’s unlimited potential.
