Blended Learning Application
The OCS Blended Learning Model is for elementary students who have a documented medical risk associated with COVID-19. No new middle school or high school applications are being accepted at this time.
Elementary students who have a documented health risk, complicated by COVID-19, may apply by filling out the application. Each application will be reviewed to determine if the applicant meets the qualification criteria, as well as determining if Blended Learning is a good fit academically for the student. In some cases where technology access or parental support is not available, Blended Learning may not be an effective learning strategy.
Blended learning will consist of varied instructional methods, tailored to a virtual environment. Instructional methods may include recorded video instruction – (from OCS teachers and other sources), a weekly check-in with a teacher, and posted assignments with reasonable due dates. Students in Blended Learning may not follow the exact schedule as their peers in the regular classroom, so teachers may have adequate time to prepare lessons effectively. While content standards will be covered, instructional methods and assessments may vary from the regular classroom.
