First Reconciliation Session Two
Hello everyone! If you are reading this, you probably weren't able to come to the October session of preparation for First Reconciliation. I have tried to make this online class as interesting and close to the in person class as possible. I will be going over all the same information, and most of it will come from videos that I have made. I am going to try to include as many of the activities as possible. There are also packets of notes and activities that each student took home from the in person class that are available in the church vestibule.

We opened with the Act of Contrition, because it is a prayer you should know well by the time you make your First Reconciliation.

My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In his name, dear God, forgive me. Amen.

The first thing we covered in class was the parable of the Prodigal Son that Jesus told in the Bible. This story shows how we can make mistakes and how if we are truly sorry and try to do better and apologize to God, he will always love and forgive us. This video also talks about free will, which is what lets us make choices between doing right and doing wrong.

Major Definitions, Five Steps to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and Examination of Conscience
These are some great questions to ask yourself during your Examination of Conscience to help you think about anything you need to confess. These are questions that are meant for your age group that will go over your life at home, school, and church. Use these questions to jog your memory and help you start making a list of things to confess.
How did you feel when you were thinking about the questions from the Examination of Conscience? How do you think you will feel once you have your First Reconciliation? *
First Reconciliation Celebration, the Beatitudes, and Bringing the Light of Christ to the World
What are three things that you can do to live the Beatitudes and share the Light of Christ with others? *
These are the clues and answers from BINGO. They are nice to review because they go over all the important words that have to do with Reconciliation.
These are a short version of the Beatitudes, telling us what we should try to be on the inside in our hearts.
This is a prayer you can pray to ask God to help you live the Beatitudes.
This is the song "This Little Light of Mine" that we will sing at the First Reconciliation Celebration. Please look over the words (which are pretty easy since they repeat a lot) and the few simple motions that will go with it with our candles.
Our closing prayer is a prayer for new life. "Thank you, Father, for your Son, Jesus who died for us. Thank you, Jesus, for the Holy Spirit, who brings us new life. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for guiding us and helping to make us holy. Help us to live as your children, God. May we receive the gift of new life that you promise to all those who live in your love. Amen."                                                        Will you be attending rehearsal and First Reconciliation? *
