Hi from SVC - we are a volunteering charity established in 1971, our aim is to enhance the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in South Wales. This usually involves running clubs and befriending projects for our many beneficiary groups, which include - children and adults with disabilities, young carers, patients on dementia wards, or patients with mental health conditions, homeless people and isolated older people, for more info please see our website -
www.svcymru.orgFollowing the COVID-19 pandemic we have ceased all of our face to face volunteering activities, however, we are now looking at new ways to support our beneficiaries. Many of whom have been advised to self isolate for their own safety. However, we are keen to provide our beneficiaries with as much support as possible and try to combat feelings of isolation and loneliness. We want to try to provide as many beneficiaries as possible with a range of online activities.
The types of activities we usually offer range from our very popular Karaoke Club, bingo club, themed parties with live music, comedy gigs and much more. So we are now contacting the community to enquire who can help. We have some funding and would be happy to pay people to deliver their skills digitally to our different beneficiary groups. For example, we have already enlisted a yoga instructor to provide a yoga class for disabled adults, a music teacher to run a music class for adults with learning disabilities, a Thai Chi class for individuals with mental health conditions. This will all be provided digitally, and we would love to here what other ideas are out there, so please do get in touch.
