Surprise bills are those expensive balance bills you get from a doctor, hospital, ambulance or other health care provider. You did what you could to make sure you sought care in your health plan's network, but through no fault of your own, you get a bill from the out-of-network health provider. One in two patients who ride in an ambulance for emergency treatment are at risk of getting a surprise bill. These bills are expensive. PIRG is fighting to protect patients from these unfair bills, but we need your help.
