PIRG Surprise Billing Story Submission
Surprise bills are those expensive balance bills you get from a doctor, hospital, ambulance or other health care provider. You did what you could to make sure you sought care in your health plan's network, but through no fault of your own, you get a bill from the out-of-network health provider. If this sounds familiar, you have received a surprise medical bill.

One in two patients who ride in an ambulance for emergency treatment are at risk of getting a surprise bill. These bills are expensive. PIRG is fighting to protect patients from these unfair bills, but we need your help. Stories from patients like you helped us pass the No Surprises Act, a federal law that will ban most surprise bills. We need your help to pass protections from ambulance surprise bills and to keep reminding the regulators to enforce the No Surprises Act which protects us from other surprise bills.

After submitting your story in this form, we may reach out to you with more questions about your experience. Thanks for your help. Your story helps us fight for better policies to protect patients.
