Opening Prayer:  Start with the Sign of the Cross and pray the Our Father together as a family.
Session Theme:  T - Thanksgiving, Transformation; Year Review
Our theme this month was looking at a couple ways the letter T in Eucharist can help us better understand what the Eucharist is and also reviewed our year for our final session.
Different Ways to Pray and Types of Prayer Activities
One of the questions that came up a lot in September's what/why question activity was variations on what does it mean to pray, why do we pray, how do we pray, etc.  So we will be including a different type of prayer and/or way to pray each month to give you more options at home.
Liturgy of the Hours:  This month's style was to pull a few prayers out of the evening prayer for Liturgy of the Hours.  The Liturgy of the Hours is a way to incorporate prayer throughout the day.  For priests, those who live in monasteries or religious life, and others, praying the Liturgy of the Hours is a very specific set of prayers said at specific times throughout the day.  For lay people, setting a timer on a phone or having a specific prayer to say upon waking up or right before bed are ways to incorporate a Liturgy of the Hours type of prayer.  For our family session, we looked at and prayed together some of the specific prayers from the evening prayer.  See the below handout and read through and pray the prayers together.
Does your family already have specific times in the day that you pray together?  And/or what is one way your family could add an intentional prayer at the same time each day this month?   *
Each month we receive a short presentation from one of our priests or deacons.  This month, Father Sebastian talked with us about the Eucharist as Thanksgiving and Transformation to finish off our year discussing the letters of Eucharist. Please watch the video and answer the following questions.
