Should the game use Sonic locations and ideas (Station Square, etc) or original areas?

This is where the influences of Zelda start to show with this reworked project, given my previous Zelda themed game projects.

A side-distraction, for optional but worthwhile items that are inspired by Wind Waker's sea charts and RuneScape's treasure trails. Sea Charts are intended for the ocean outside of Station Square while Treasure Maps may lead you anywhere on land. Other name suggestions are Bottled Messages and Treasure Scrolls.

These are planned to be worthwhile and to not give junk items. I.e, sea charts/treasure maps wouldn't give rings (they may, but it'll be a significant amount) or common items like basic tree fruits. Sea Charts and Treasure Maps are treated as distractions that may be time-consuming to complete per chart/map so I want the rewards to be worth the player's time/effort.
