Week 2 Comida Corrida Survey
Comida Corrida is a popular lunch option in Mexico that is usually available at fondas which are small restaurants run by homecooks. Each fonda makes homestyle Mexican food and the Comida Corrida is a menu that changes frequently that is all inclusive with an agua fresca, usually a soup, salad or side, a main entree and a small dessert/treat. It is one of the most popular, quick, affordable and generally healthy ways to eat out in Mexico with each fonda having its own variations of traditional dishes. This Comida Corrida “Pay it Forward” Project aims to share this nostalgic experience from Mexico with the Westwood community in an affordable and accessible way while ultimately also creating opportunities for women chefs in the community to share their own food and family recipes and begin to develop the necessary skills and experience needed to run their own food based business.
The Comida Corrida project will operate under a "Pay It Forward" model, where all guests can pay whatever amount they want for their meal and if they choose to, they can also help cover the costs of the meal for someone else. We believe all people should have access to healthy, culturally relevant, and affordable food. Low-income/BIPOC communities like Westwood experience some of the largest inequities around food access, and while radical systemic change is needed to our current food systems, we believe there is power in our collective community coming together to support and feed one another.
Thank you for joining us for our Comida Corrida "Pay It Forward" Project. We appreciate your feedback.
