Silk Roads: Humanities Research Cluster                                                                        Interest Form
Our impressions of the "East and the West" tend to isolate each region from the other, suggesting that each belongs to a monolithic category. The extent of exchange between the two – both in the globalized modern world and in history - demonstrates this is not the case.

From the lucrative goods traded from Xi’an across the Mediterranean Sea during the era of the ancient Silk Roads, to the economic ascent of China or political instability of the Middle East today, this research cluster invites scholars from all fields to explore the ways the “East and West” are intricately linked.

This is a group organized by undergraduates. We will be holding discussions on literature/films/art as well as research workshops for any students either already conducting research, or who are interested in getting started!
