FREE for all districts thanks to the SEL hub grant

Julie Smith, author of "Master the Media" and a faculty member at Webster University, will provide a full day of PD consisting of the connection between media literacy and SEL.  The day will feature all the ways our media consumption affects our SEL:  how misinformation causes cynicism, ads that trivialize human relationships, negative political coverage causing hopelessness, lack of trust because of online bot pervasiveness, online filters that cause body image issues, doubt caused by AI and deep fakes...the list goes on.  The workshop will include tactics that educators can use regardless of grade level or subject area. These tactics will help a student's critical thinking which will turn their media experience into an active one rather than a passive one.
