WC24 Scholarship/ Delayed Payment Request
ATTENTION:

WayPoint Church is changing how we go about granting scholarships!

Starting in 2024, scholarships will be made available via the camp scholarship fund, which is 100% funded by donations, and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. As such, the amount of money available in the scholarship fund is limited. That said, we have a very generous congregation and anticipate ample donations, especially when we hold camp fundraiser events. However, since we are running the fund this way (as opposed to granting scholarships using overhead funds - which is what we did before), we cannot grant them by default anymore.

What does this mean for you?

If you need a scholarship, you can (and should) still register! However, we cannot guarantee your participation until the money is secured by any combination of you paying and money being available in the scholarship fund. Delayed payment plans will still be granted upon request, as needed. But students needing full or partial scholarships will need to be anonymously "sponsored" via donations. You'll use this form to apply for a scholarship, and you'll be notified the moment funds become available, and updated on the latest status of the scholarship fund before then.

We strongly encourage campers and parents of campers who need scholarships to plan ahead and do their best to come up with some or all of the cost of tuition.

WHY are we changing this???

Simply put, we cannot afford to grant as many scholarships as we have in the past. The cost of camp was engineered in such a way to provide financial headroom so that students needing scholarships would be covered. While this sounds good on paper, this results in inflated costs for those who do pay. We don't "investigate" anyone who asks for a scholarship, which can sometimes result in students coming to camp on a scholarship who don't necessarily need one. Now, if the scholarship fund runs dry, we will not be able to accept those registrants.

By changing how scholarships are managed, we are able to drive the cost of camp down as low as possible, so that all can benefit by lower costs.

As before, all students (who are already a part of Waypoint Youth) who need scholarships are obligated to attend a work party or highway cleanup event at the church. The next Adopt-A-Road cleanup event is on January 20th, 9am at WayPoint North.

Ways to pay for camp without a scholarship:

-Ask someone to sponsor you! Many folks in our community could use some help, and would love to help you get to camp. How do you do this? Ask! Many people would LOVE to sponsor you (fully or partially), especially if you are willing to do some work for them. People you can ask: People at church, Grandparents, Aunts/Uncles, Teachers, Big Brothers/Sisters, Neighbors.

-Start saving for camp incrementally. If you start this week (December 18, 2023) and save/earn $18 a week, you'll be able to pay the full cost by the time camp starts!

Thanks for reading! We want to be able to provide every scholarship that is needed. You can help us do that!

HELP!
What do these options mean? Option A is if the only thing you are asking for is financial assistance. If you can't pay at all, or can only pay some of the cost of camp, this is for you.

Option B is for you if you CAN pay the full price, but need more time to do so.

Option C is for those who need financial assistance paying, but CAN pay SOME of the tuition, and need more time to pay that portion of the tuition.
