Procedure:
Hope After Loss, Inc. (HAL) assists families in need of financial help to bury or cremate their baby lost in
pregnancy or as an infant up to age one year old. HAL manages the referrals, aiding families in
bereavement support, as well as providing financial assistance. The Program Manager (PM) is the
primary executor of the tasks.

-Need is identified by social worker or by self-report.  Families often qualify for Title XIX, but need may be determined otherwise.

-If baby is born living, for those with Title XIX, DSS will pay up to $1200 towards funeral expenses.  Miscarriages and stillborn babies are excluded. http://www.icarol.info/ResourceView2.aspx?org=2385&agencynum=17317763

-HAL will provide $150 towards each cremation, $300 towards each burial. The funding is sent by check from accountant directly to funeral home.

-Parent(s) may use the funeral home of their choice. If they need a recommendation HAL will provide the names of three local funeral homes.  The names of the funeral homes may come from ones HAL has worked with previously.
