Reading Foundations, Remediation, and the Road Forward with Ohio's New Dyslexia Law
TRAINING GOAL:
As school psychologists, we are often sought out for assistance with reading instruction for helping in the design and implementation of MTSS programs, administering diagnostic reading assessments, and recommending and implementing reading interventions at multiple tiers of instruction. Ohio continues to focus on improving literacy achievement and with the passage of House BIll 436 more attention is being focused on helping all students improve their literacy achievement with effective instruction and evidence based interventions. The goal of this presentation will be to further enhance attendees' understanding of the science of reading, provide evidence based assessments and intervention recommendations, and discuss the future of literacy education with the passing of House Bill 436.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: As a result of this training, participants will learn:
- How the science of reading informs our current understanding of reading development and remediation
- Suggested assessments and interventions for teachers (RTI or MTSS)
- H.B. 436 (Ohio's new Dyslexia Law) - What we know, what's to come, and how we can begin to prepare
