Astronomy Art Contest 2024
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Mississippi is hosting an astronomy-themed art contest. There will be exciting prizes to win! 

The exhibition of the artwork will happen between 7:30 to 8:30 pm on Sunday, April 14th, 2024. Everyone is welcome to participate. 

Instructions:
1. The subject of the artwork has to be an astronomical object/phenomenon.
2. The work has to be in 2D and on paper of size between 8” x 11” - 17” x 24”. It should not be mounted or framed. No electronic art is allowed.
3. Along with the artwork every contestant should also provide a piece of paper with their name, age group, the title of the artwork, the astronomical object/phenomenon depicted, and an acknowledgment of reference images, as appropriate.
4. We must receive the artwork by 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 14th, 2024 in order for it to be considered for the competition.

Policies:
1. For each age bracket, there will be a single winner selected by a panel of judges.
2. The contestants have to be present at the exhibition to be eligible for the prize. 
3. The artwork remains the property of the contestants but the winning pieces will be displayed for some time before being returned to the winners.

Contestants should be careful not to use any copyrighted images as references, unless the source specifically allows for, e.g., use for educational purposes. We have collected some sources of images that could be used as reference here.
