Scarborough's travel pickleball league REGISTRATION
Scarborough will have one Level 2 travel pickleball league.  It is part of the the city wide pickleball league which is an outdoor travel league.  Each club/organization around Columbus that is interested in participating will form one or more pickleball teams representing that organization in the league.

PickleballZone.com is the official site through which the travel league is managed.  The official match day and times of the league is Sundays from 11am-2pm.  The duration of the league is approx 8 weeks and is dependent on the number of teams in the league.  The first match is June 5 and the last match is tentatively scheduled for July 31.  There will be championship matches after the conclusion of the normal league.

There are two different levels of teams in the league this year.  Level 1 is for players with skills between 2.5-3.4 and level 2 is for players with skills between 3.5-4.4, respectively.  The level 1 teams will compete against each other, and the level 2 teams will compete against each other.  *Scarborough will have ONE LEVEL 2 travel team.*

These teams are competitive and are not considered "rec leagues."  Consequently, captains and/or Pros at each club determine the final placement of players on the teams.  In other words a 3.0 skilled player will not be allowed to play on the Level 2 team with one exception.  Captains of a level 2 team can request that a player from his/her club's level 1 team sub in a particular match as the need arises.

Each travel team will have a team captain or club Pro who determines rosters for matches.  Each match consists of 6 players for 3 courts.  While the captain should give all players a chance to participate in matches, these teams are competitive.  There is no guarantee that every player has equal play time in matches.  There will likely be more team members than spots available to play.

Each team in this league hosts multiple "home" matches and travels to multiple "away" matches hosted by other teams. In case of rain, each of the two competing teams determines how to best manage playing the match.  Options will include postponing a match to another day to play outside, or meeting at an indoor facility at an agreed upon day/time to play the match indoors.  There will be a court fee for all players involved in any indoor match regardless of location and hosting team.

                                                                   ------------------------------

Total costs for each player to participate in a club's travel teams are set by the club.

Scarborough will charge $80 per person to participate in the travel league.  This includes:
--overall league management
--use of Scarborough's outside pickleball courts courts for a weekly 2 hour practice as well as the teams' home matches on Sundays from 11am-2pm.
--guaranteed availability of indoor courts for a reduced rental fee  ($10/ person) on Sundays at 9am in case of rain
--practice and match balls
--two team clinics led by Blaine Carr at reduced fees for all league members who want to participate ($10/person)

The club will charge the travel team players in May after the final details of the league has been settled.
