Friends, I have EXCITING news - I got accepted to the Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s Summer Program for Senior Executives in State & Local Government. It’s a three-week program this summer in Boston (just after my 50th Birthday - which is July 1st).
I am really excited about this opportunity - it’s a big deal. It comes with a big price tag. I applied for a full-ride fellowship. While I didn’t get the full-ride, I did receive a $5,000 scholarship towards the cost and now I need to raise the remaining $12,000…by June 1st to go.
This all came up this last week while I was traveling so I’ve been scrambling, crunching numbers, and working to figure out how to make this a reality. After consulting with a few folks, I’m putting this ask out as an invitation to invest in this dream with me.
I first heard of this program when former Oregon Governor Barbara Roberts went to teach in the Harvard Kennedy School. I made a mental note long ago about attending it “someday.” Now that I’ve been on the coast 7 years, I know I can benefit from the specialized training this program offers in my current role on the City Council and as I run for reelection this fall.
So here’s my ask: Will you help me get to Boston by making a donation through this GoFundMe? As a reminder, the deadline is June 1st. I would gleefully offer a Zoom update in August to let you know what I learned and gained from this experience.
