The Association of Graduate Engineering Students (AGES) plans to host the first ever Engineering Ball in Spring 2023 for graduate students and faculty in the McKelvey School of Engineering. The event will be modelled after Med Ball, the annual formal event with dinner and dancing for students and faculty in the School of Medicine. As with other AGES staple events, the Engineering Ball will be primarily funded by the Graduate Student Activity Fee, although we will sell tickets for the event to supplement the cost. 

AGES Social Chair, Tiger Nie, established the Engineering Ball Planning Committee to kick start planning for the event. If you are interested in helping with the first Engineering Ball and establishing it as a staple event in the School of Engineering, please fill out this application to join the Planning Committee. The current vacant positions are: 

Decoration (2 people). Help plan out the theme, designing and purchasing decorations for the venue (e.g. table decorations, photo-booth, backdrop). The more creative the better!

Publicity (1 person). In charge of design, digital media, and publicizing our event to the ~1500 graduate engineering students and faculty. Graphics design skills are a plus! The social media chair will help with these tasks. 

Sight and Sound (2 people). Responsible for the lighting and music at the venue, including booking a band and a DJ for live entertainment, and running the show at the event! No prior experience is necessary.

The Planning Committee will meet biweekly in the Fall semester and weekly in the Spring semester until the Engineering Ball (tentatively around March 2023). Tiger Nie (AGES Social Chair) will head the committee and be responsible for contracting the event venue, catering, bar, transportation, and other miscellaneous things. Saugat Pandey (AGES Treasurer) will be the treasurer for the planning committee and oversee all purchasing and contracting. As this is a brand new event to AGES and the Engineering School, we will make mistakes along the way, but we will move forward as we learn, and we hope the Engineering Ball will be contribute positively to the graduate engineering community and become an annual staple event in the future.
