What is the Family Teacher Association (FTA)?

The FTA is a volunteer group of parents working together to foster strong relationships between parents, teachers, students and staff. The FTA's mission is to enhance the educational experience by connecting all members of the SHMA community.

What does the FTA do?

The FTA sponsors activities throughout the year designed to build a connected community at SHMA. In the past events included: Boohoo/Yahoo, New Parent Welcome Party, Square One Art, Fall Festival, Talent Show and Craft Fair, Holiday Show, Gala, Spirit Nights, Book Fairs, Threshers Game, Camp Out, Staff Appreciation Week, and Parent Education.

What does membership in the FTA mean?

Don’t panic! Joining the FTA does not require a time commitment. By joining, you’re showing your support for the FTA events, most of which are free to the SHMA community. Your membership donation helps the FTA have the resources to provide our children with a stronger school community. Just imagine what we could do with 100% participation!

I’ll definitely join, but I want to do more; how can I help?

You can volunteer! The FTA keeps an annual roster
of all members willing to volunteer their time as well. We will email you throughout the year with volunteer
opportunities. Additionally, you, your company, or someone you know may wish to sponsor part or all of an
event or events. Check the appropriate box or boxes below, provide your email or phone number below so we
may contact you accordingly.
