Our Whole Lives (O.W.L.) 2023-2024
We are proud to once again offer the UUA's comprehensive, holistic, and inclusive human sexuality curriculum, "Our Whole Lives" for the 2023-2024 school year. This course is open to all students in grades 7-9, whether or not you attend First Church. Led by trained & caring adults across a spectrum of ages, genders, and sexualities, classes will run from 12-2pm on Sundays starting October 15, with a MANDATORY parent/guardian meeting on October 1st. Please contact Director of Youth & Adult Programming Kate Sheridan at fcsterlingprograms@gmail.com with any questions and/or feel free to read more about the OWL program here.

From the Unitarian Universalist Association:

"Honest, accurate information about sexuality changes lives. It dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives. For these reasons and more, we are proud to offer Our Whole Lives (OWL), a comprehensive, lifespan sexuality education curricula for use in both secular settings and faith communities. Our Whole Lives helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their relationships, sexual health and behavior. With a holistic approach (PDF), Our Whole Lives provides accurate, developmentally appropriate information about a range of topics, including relationships, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, sexual health, and cultural influences on sexuality."

I acknowledge that a parent/guardian will need to attend the mandatory orientation meeting on October 1 at 12pm. If this is not possible, I will need to schedule a separate orientation with coordinator Kate Sheridan prior to the student start date of October 15.  *
How did you hear about the OWL program? *
Sexuality can be an uncomfortable subject for people of all ages. Though you will learn more about our curriculum at orientation, as well as strategies to support your child's comfort & growth in this course, if there is anything you'd like us to know about your child's current understanding of and/or relationship to human sexuality, please leave us any notes below.
